Electricity from tidal forces?

Riddle me this, Batman. Since seawater is an electrical conductor, would its movement through a magnetic field generate an electrical current? (no pun intended!) Could this process be used to produce power? On a larger scale, does the flow of ocean currents through the Earth's magnetic field do the same thing?
